The government has rolled out the Prime Minister’s Electric Bike and Rickshaw Scheme 2026 under the PAVE program, aiming to promote affordable andeco-friendly transportation across Pakistan.
Speaking to ARY News, Hamad Ali Mansoor, CEO of the Engineering Development Board( EDB), revealed the scheme’s details, including subventions, targets, and who can apply. According to him, a aggregate of Rs100 billion has been set away for electric bikes and cabs over the coming five times. For the current financial time, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has allocated Rs9 billion.
Under the program, 116,000 electric motorcycles will admit a subvention of Rs 80,000 each this time. For electric cabs, a subvention of Rs 400,000 per vehicle has been blazoned. Mansoor added that the action makes electric bikes Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 cheaper than other brands presently available in the request. The government aims to distribute 76,000 motorcycles by June.
