About Jimmy Engineer

Jimmy Engineer was born on August 13, 1954 in Balochistan, Pakistan into a Parsi family. He grew up to break all barriers of caste and creed, defining multi-ethnicity through his art and altruism. He turned professional painter in 1976, but his achievements went far beyond artistic creativity when he discovered a deep love for his fellow beings, especially the downtrodden. His art pieces became expressions of truth and his images began to speak of his compassion for the people he saw. Over his career he has painted over 3000 paintings, around 1000 abstracts, more than 1000 calligraphies, and over 1500 drawings. He has also donated over 700,000 prints to charities all over the world, with his works held in private collections across more than 60 countries including the USA, UK, France, Germany, Japan, China, Australia, Russia, and many more. He has held more than 120 art exhibitions in Pakistan and abroad, led over 200 walks for noble causes, and arranged more than 260 awareness programs for the handicapped and orphans. Among his most prestigious honours, he was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan in 2005 and the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan's second highest civilian award, presented by President Asif Ali Zardari in 2024. He has received over 120 shields of honour, awards, and medals from Pakistan and abroad, a record no other Pakistani artist has matched. Although an artist by profession, Jimmy Engineer has always preferred to remain undocumented and unsung. For him, to be a good human being is better than being a great artist.
